    Bachelor of Arts in History

    The KSU History degree prepares you for careers involving critical thinking, research, and oral and written communication. The history degree also serves as a prerequisite for graduate study in several fields, including history, education, law, theology, and many other social science disciplines.

    As a History major, you'll acquire relevant skills such as research and writing, while being exposed to the theories of the discipline and the various fields of history. Students You will work with faculty experts to complete a capstone experience including two research seminars. Alternatively, you can complete or complete a Senior Thesis to develop a writing sample for career advancement or a graduate study to develop credentials needed in your area of expertise.

    A degree in history prepares students for careers in diverse areas of government, the international arena workplaces, law, theology, business, journalism, education, research, non-profit work, and graduate study.

    Learn Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills

    Critical thinking and analytical skills are necessary for most jobs today.  In the History degree program, you will learn to process and synthesize information, analyze situations and arguments, and logically assess issues and problems. These skills will prepare you to solve complex challenges creatively for real-world situations.

    A B.A. in History is useful for those interested in careers involving critical thinking, research and oral and written communication, as well as those interested in learning how the past continues to influence our world today. This degree prepares you for careers in government, the international arena, law, theology, business, non-profit work, as well as for graduate study.

    GPA Requirement 

    Graduation from high school with GPA of 2.5 with qualifying SAT/ACT test scores

    (If educated outside of the United States, the required official evaluation
    must indicate GPA)

    First-Year Student Announcement:

    First-year students applying to Kennesaw State University for the Summer, and Fall 2023 semesters may be admitted without an ACT or SAT score if they have a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

    * Students who have a GPA of less than 3.2 should submit official ACT or SAT scores along with their high school transcript to be considered for admission. 

    *For students who were educated outside the United States, the GPA must be reflected on the official evaluation (see requirements below). Kennesaw State will review the official evaluation.

    **Being exempt from SAT/ACT does not guarantee that students are also exempt from the English proficiency requirement if they are citizens of non-English speaking countries (see the Validation of English Proficiency section below).

    Note: Test scores are still required for some scholarships (e.g. Zell Miller) and programs (e.g. Architecture).
