The first year of this HND develops a wide range of skills needed by practising designers, including communication with clients and other professionals and organising and managing design and construction projects.
In year 2, you'll have learned about all aspects of the design and construction of gardens, as well as the principles and history of garden design, and the context of design within society and environmental conditions.
Many students with an HND go on to set up successful independent design businesses. Some work with other garden designers in small companies, or for landscaping companies, or with consortia involving designers and other landscape professionals. Others go on to further qualifications, like a garden and greenspace design or landscape architecture degree.
