    About

Illustrators use creativity, critical thinking, and artistic skill to solve some of today’s most challenging commercial needs. Illustration appears in a broad array of outlets, including publishing, advertising, entertainment related fields, and in private commissions. Illustration majors will engage in a wide variety of experiences that are designed to develop core skills in drawing, painting, digital and mixed media. To be considered for the Bachelor of Illustration program, students must have completed the Art Fundamentals cluster and Illustration minor. Students will then be required to submit a portfolio that demonstrates requisite skills, knowledge, and understanding of illustration. If a student is not initially accepted into the program, they will be allowed the opportunity to complete the Illustration Concentration and to apply a second time. Upon acceptance into the Bachelor of Illustration program, students will work with a faculty mentor to select a non-illustration cluster as a supplement to their required program-specific courses and electives.
    1. Students will demonstrate knowledge in different arenas of illustration markets, helping them to decide which market will be best for their personality and skill set.
    2. Students will demonstrate proficiency in art making skills that will help them develop personal styles and visual voice.
    3. Students will show knowledge of current traditional and digital media used in all areas of the illustration market.
    4. Students will produce industry-ready illustrations that also convey their morals and beliefs.
