The IMB International Summer School (ISS) on "Gene Regulation, Epigenetics & Genome Stability" is a six-week programme for outstanding and enthusiastic undergraduate, Master's, and PhD students who want to acquire excellent practical skills and hands-on training offered by leading scientists in molecular biology. The ISS is coordinated by the Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB), a Centre of Excellence for basic research in the life sciences. The programme has a clearly defined and unique profile that will provide you with interdisciplinary education in the following fields: Epigenetics Transcriptional control & dynamics Stem cell & developmental biology RNA biology DNA damage & repair Chromatin biology Bioinformatics & systems biology The summer school offers students from all over the world the chance to carry out a research project and receive scientific training in an informal and international atmosphere. This includes theory modules and practical work on a cutting-edge project within the lab of one of the participating research groups. Leading scientists hold lectures on the topics of the ISS, giving students comprehensive insight into the latest research findings and identifying key open questions in the field. You will receive daily support within your research group, and you will receive help with your research project from scientists at IMB's state-of-the-art core facilities, which cover bioinformatics, cytometry, genomics, microscopy, and proteomics. Outside of the lab, the ISS will provide you with a varied social programme, including dinners, sightseeing tours, and excursions in and around Mainz. These social events will give you plenty of opportunities to get to know the other participants in the ISS and your colleagues at IMB.
