Ohio is currently the seventh largest insurance state in the nation.Career OpportunitiesIt is estimated that nearly 26,000 new jobs will need to be filled in the insurance sector by 2020 as the current generation reaches retirement age. Even without factoring in the unprecedented shortage of qualified workers over the next five years, Ohio insurers and related employment activity are projected to increase by 5.2% between 2010 and 2020. With this new specialization, the College of Business is well positioned to provide highly qualified individuals for the insurance industry.Upon completion of the new insurance program requirements, students will gain exposure to more than 30 different career paths including accountant, benefits specialist, claims adjuster, claims representative, fraud examiner, insurance agent, loss prevention manager, pricing analyst, risk manager, and underwriter.     The Insurance Specialization at the Bowling Green State University is designed for business students to prepare them to be an insurance specialist, with the academic and professional levels of education needed to advise on insurance and manage insurance company and agent operations. The program is one of only a few programs in the state of Ohio specifically focused on insurance.
