Integrated Graduate School: Mathematical Modelling, Simulation and Optimisation Using the Example of Gas Networks (SFB Transregio 154)

    About

The Integrated Graduate School of the SFB Transregio 154 centres around mathematical challenges arising in the context of the “turnaround in energy policy” on the selected example of gas networks. Based on mathematical modelling, simulation, and optimisation, the main aim is to provide certified novel answers arising in this context. In order to achieve these goals, new paradigms in the integration of these disciplines and, in particular, in the interplay between integer and nonlinear programming in the context of stochastic data have to be established and brought to bear. The Integrated Graduate School offers its members a solid scientific education in the research areas of the SFB Transregio 154 as well as soft skill courses. Furthermore, it encourages early scientific independence. In addition, grants for research visits within the SFB Transregio 154 (up to 12 months) are offered to students who do not hold a doctorate yet. The scientific part of the research programme includes transregional summer and winter schools, regular lectures, and block courses given by guest researchers and lecture series specifically designed for the main research areas of the SFB Transregio 154 at each site. Scientific independence is promoted by networking, attending international conferences, research visits abroad, and excursions.
