    Intercultural Communication and Cooperation

    About

    In our Master’s programme, students will improve their intercultural communication skills and obtain a deeper understanding of the possibilities and problems of intercultural communication and international cooperation. The programme is a part-time course, allowing students to combine their careers and a degree programme. Classes are scheduled on weekends, bank holidays or in the evening. The classes offered on weekends are especially convenient for commuters and enable students from outside the Munich area to participate in the programme. Programme outline: Basics: Students will learn about the basics in mandatory courses such as: Introduction to culture, communication and the impact of digital technologies Globalisation: economy and politics Migration and social transformation Empirical research methods Elective courses: Furthermore, students can select courses from a variety of topics. They need to attend a certain number of courses per topic. Academic disciplines (selected courses) Cultural Studies Conversation analysis Intercultural psychology Raising interreligious awareness International employment law Intercultural philosophy Migration and mobility Negotiation techniques (in German, English and Spanish) Management of International For-Profit Organisations and Non-Profit Organisations (selected courses): Intercultural economic studies International Human Resource development Corporate social responsibility Intercultural conflict prevention Leading virtual teams Intercultural challenges in sales and account management Manage international development projects Project planning and management Consulting and training: Culture sensitive coaching Techniques for intercultural trainings Area studies (selected courses): African Societies Booming Regions: The Indian Subcontinent Focal point Middle East: the Israeli-Palestinian conflict German-Chinese cooperation (includes a field trip to Beijing and joint classes with students from the Beijing Foreign Studies University) Islamic societies and cultures Japan Spain and Latin America Turkey UK and Ireland today USA Intercultural projects In the third and fourth semesters, students will work in small teams on intercultural projects of their choosing, typically working with companies, organisations or private individuals (e.g., migrants or refugees). Students are responsible for data collection and analysis and present their results to the class and their clients. A project management course and access to an e-portfolio platform support students in planning and coordinating their project work. Master module In the fifth semester, students attend a Master's seminar and work on their individual theses (in German or English).

    Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), with an overall grade of at least "good" At least one year of work experience after graduation Applicants have to pass an admission interview.
