    Interdisciplinary Studies

    About

The B.A. in interdisciplinary studies is a degree program that allows students to create a flexible degree program around a unifying theme or problem that integrates more than one disciplinary perspective. This degree may fit academic or career interests that cannot be accommodated by the university's traditional academic programs. In particular, students who anticipate graduate or professional study in an area that does not require a specific undergraduate specialty (business, law, or medicine, for example) may find this program especially well-suited to their needs and interests. Students may select from two options, depending on the flexibility desired in pursuing the theme or problem.

          • Undergraduate Credential Evaluation for Transfer Credit
          • If you wish to transfer any credit from a university outside of the U.S., you will need to obtain a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member agency and all official course descriptions for the courses you have taken. Here are two NACES member companies that our students commonly use:
            • SpanTran: The Evaluation Company
            • World Education Services (WES)
          • If you choose to use SpanTran, please use the custom application linked above for UM Applicants to ensure you get the right kind of evaluation.
          • If you choose to use WES, you must select the course-by-course evaluation option. You must follow the “Required Documents” information specific to your country of study to ensure that your evaluation is completed as quickly as possible.
          • While such an evaluation is not a requirement for admission per se, it is a requirement for granting undergraduate transfer credit at UM.
      • For International Transfer students interested in transferring to the University of Mississippi from a college/university within the USA:
      • International Freshman/Transfer applicants graduating from a secondary school or transferring from a college or university in the U.S., whether in Mississippi or elsewhere, must meet the admissions requirements as listed in the section titled Admission of Freshman and Transfer Students in the University of Mississippi catalog. https://catalog.olemiss.edu/admission/international-students Additionally, they must provide:
