    Interior Decoration & Styling

    About

    The Interior Decoration & Styling programme will immerse you in the stylish world of interior design with an emphasis on aesthetic and ambient design, for a range of interior, private and public environments. Progressing within our visual arts department, you will study a range of specialist modules from style curation, technical drawing and 3D software to product development and surface design. We are very excited to introduce this new course where you will develop your distinctive design style and specialist portfolio while exploring a range of interior challenges from residential to commercial designs. Embracing consumer trends and exploration of various materials for decorative interior environments, you will gain experience in a variety of settings from domestic, retail, exhibition, hospitality and public spaces. Work in dedicated studios with industry specialists and creative technicians to develop your understanding of trend, interior textiles, finishing and style curation. As an interior stylist and decorative designer you’ll have have opportunities to become involved in other programmes to develop your creative ambition, enabling you to develop your expertise in a range of disciplines such as upholstery, textiles, product and spatial composition. Throughout the programme, working closely with industry to hone your skills and your ambitions, you can create a portfolio that is individual to your specialism. There will be opportunities to explore the future of interiors, historical contexts, manufacturing processes, material exploration and interior decoration – communicating culturally, socially and ethically with an audience. Students are encouraged to collaborate and engage in work placements and competition opportunities to develop a distinctive portfolio and self-promotion.

    Fee Information

    As with most creative programmes delivered at higher education, this programme will have additional costs such as material and basic tools and contribution towards educational visits to ensure successful completion of the programme. The School offers financial support packages to help with this, whether this be through means-tested bursaries and/or grants.
