    Career

If you have previously studied a business-related subject, the MSc International Business degrees can help you to develop your career more specifically via one of the optional pathways.  If you have never studied business previously, you will be able to use your new-found knowledge to launch a career in business. We have also seen many graduates who have continued working in areas related to their undergraduate studies but now have stronger business and management knowledge. For example, your bachelor degree might be in computing and you can use your new found International Business knowledge, coupled with your previous knowledge of computing to work specifically in related roles in that sector.

The degree optional pathway you choose also helps indicate to employers the area you have the most interest in. International Business demonstrates your interest in exactly that, international business, but the pathway you choose helps to demonstrate further whether you are most interested in finance, banking, HRM, marketing, management etc.

Graduates move into all sizes of business and across all sectors. Many have also launched their own businesses. True graduate success is up to you. Those that have succeeded the most were those that worked hard, studied hard, but also got involved in a range of other University activities such as societies, committees. They also used all the available services and opportunities available to them at Dundee.

Our International Business graduates have recently gone on to work in areas including:

    • marketing manager, financial services
    • business development manager, energy industry
    • administration management, food sector
    • product development, cosmetics company
    • trainee accountant, financial services
    • marketing executive, financial risk management
    • management consultant, media industry
    • trainee analyst, central bank
    • communications manager, oil and gas
    • credit controller, financial services
    • general manager, hospitality

This is a very small list of examples but hopefully it shows how varied the types of jobs/sectors are. There are also further examples below of recent graduates.

The wider skills you develop will also support your career development. Such things as strong presentation skills, an entrepreneurial flair, negotiating skills and a forward-thinking approach are important in business.
