Entry Requirements
Applicants presenting with GCE A Levels or the IB Diploma may be considered for direct entry into Undergraduate programmes at DCU.
Applicants who have completed an alternative qualification from this nation may be considered for direct entry into Undergraduate programmes at DCU.
English Program Requirements
In the case of all applications, evidence MUST be provided of competence in the English language. The list below indicates the minimum standards in the English language, which should be met for entry to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in DCU.

International Relations is a diverse field that is extremely relevant in the increasingly globalised world we live in. Graduates from our BA in International Relations will be ideally suited to a number of roles especially when combined with work experience abroad and foreign language skills. With deep insight into global politics, cultures and the ability to identify and analyse global issues, graduates of International Relations are well placed to pursue careers with governmental and non-governmental organisations, both national and international, like the United Nations and European Union, diplomatic services, as well as with major international corporations.

Postgraduate
Apply through the Postgraduate Applications Portal. A fee of €50 applies. Make sure you read all the instructions carefully before you start your application.
The steps you need to follow
- Create Account
- Complete application form
- Submit application and pay application fee
- Upload Supplemental items (documents)
Once you have completed your application you will receive updates from the International on the progress of your application.
The deadline for postgraduate applications is July 1st in any given year.

International Foundation Programme
You may need to take a foundation course if you do not satisfy DCU’s minimum entrance requirements. Find out more about how to apply the International Foundation Programme by following this link https://advance.dcu.ie/.
Pre-sessional English programmes
If you have a conditional offer of a place at DCU, but don’t satisfy DCU’s English language requirements, you may be able to take a five-week or 10-week presessional English programme on the DCU campus. Once you successfully complete this programme, you can progress to your full-time DCU programme.
