    Overview In beginning level courses, students learn basic skills for making jewelry, functional hollowware and sculptural objects. More advanced techniques are taught in intermediate, advanced and graduate level courses along with an increasing emphasis on conceptual development. Jewelry and Metalsmithing students are taught professional practices to prepare them for the many career possibilities in Jewelry and Metalsmithing and internships are available in the final year of study. Extra curricular opportunities that broaden student experience include visiting artist lectures and workshops, trips to museums and conferences, fundraising sales and group exhibitions.Learning outcomesThe Jewelry/Metalsmithing area at Edinboro University is a program that fosters self-reliance within a supportive environment, challenging students to achieve excellence and success. Graduates start small businesses making one-of-a kind and production jewelry, work in retail jewelry, continue their graduate education and become teachers and professors.     The Jewelry and Metalsmithing program at Edinboro University is a thriving community of more than twenty-five undergraduate and three graduate students guided by two full-time faculty members. Our focus is to cultivate an atmosphere that encourages students to develop their personal aesthetic while achieving technical mastery and an understanding of the critical issues facing our field today.
