    About

    Course Overview

Begin your career outdoors with a Land and Wildlife Management course at Lackham. With a wealth of exciting employment opportunities in a vast global industry, a you could go into conservation, ecology, habitat management or manage an estate: the possibilities are truly endless. And with our 1600-acre estate as your classroom, you'll develop all the specialist technical and practical skills you need for a wide variety of job roles. The Lackham estate is home to a range of typical lowland environments, from river frontage and wetlands to ancient woodland and farmland. Immersed in a real industry environment, your learning will be hands-on and tailored to take your ambitions to the next level.

    What will I learn?

This A-Level equivalent course will give you a firm understanding of rural industries such as woodland and farm habitat management, countryside recreation and ecological concepts. You'll gain hands-on experience of carrying out species surveying, tree planting and coppicing, and be actively involved in the development and management of the Lackham estate, creating and cultivating habitats for British wildlife and learning green woodcraft skills. Units in business management, volunteer management and your industry work placement will give you the skills to run and develop your own business and even become your own boss. Additional optional courses are also available, including a deer stalking certificate (DSC1), a species ID certificate and more options allowing you to specialise and develop your own career.
