    About

Learning from high-quality staff and lecturers youwork on real sites, on real scenarios, investigating real issues. Youwork on client-driven briefs in landscape studios to develop your design creativity and hone your professional practice skills. Students have worked on a range of sites in Cheltenham such as Pittville Park, Gloucester such as Kings Square, and Bristol such as The Diesel Depot and Temple Meads.

Our Town and Country Planning and Landscape courses are ranked in the top 10 in the UK for graduate prospects by the Times Good University Guide 2022, and in the top 20 for teaching satisfaction by the Guardian Good University Guide 2022.

Partners have included LDA Design, Arup, Grant Associates, Barton Wilmore, Atkins Global, Grontmij, BDP, Sustrans and Merrick Denton-Thompson, current president of the Landscape Institute.

Youdevelop design creativity through national and international study trips where youexplore examples of historic, contemporary and cultural landscapes. Previous trips include Copenhagen, New York and Barcelona.

    Study style

The study programme is based around lectures, tutorials and student-led research in a studio-based environment. Youdevelop skills in experimentation, creative thinking and social interaction.

The course also offers a balanced mix of theory, design work and introduction to professional practice. With opportunities and scope for you to thrive within a stimulating learning environment and to develop and think about your personal development within the context of future career options.

In your final year, youshowcase your work at the Degree Show an event attended by landscape practitioners where previous students have been head-hunted by leading landscape design practices.
