This course will provide you with core theoretical knowledge and important skills for effective leadership in various global health settings.
You will be introduced to various key concepts in leadership including:
- Governance
- Health systems
- Systems thinking
- Quality improvement
- Service development and
- Efficiency measurement
Different leadership theories will be critically discussed, with case studies presented to facilitate group discussions on the practical application of concepts to various scenarios. You will also gain knowledge on how leadership influences the planning, functioning and structuring of local and global health systems.
It is taught using student-centred approaches that include virtual classrooms, online group exercises, chat rooms, blogs, case studies, self-directed and directed reading and recorded presentations from experts in global health systems leadership. The online exercises will provide you with continuous formative feedback. You will keep a reflective diary that documents your learning throughout. Your reflections in the diary will contribute towards assessed reflective summary.
