    Legal Tech

    About

The LL.B. Legal Tech is unique in Germany, in that it combines a thorough legal education with key competencies in information systems. It is intended for all those who are interested in legal and also technical challenges. Successfully completing the degree programme gives you the skills to design, administer and provide support for technical applications for all areas of activity in the legal field (‘Legal Tech’). The programme not only gives you in-depth knowledge of German and European law but also the ability to analyse and optimise legal procedures as well as the necessary understanding of IT. The degree programme therefore opens a wide and modern sphere of activity in companies, law firms, the judiciary or in governmental administration. In parallel (dual study) or after the bachelor’s degree programme, you have the option of completing the undergraduate law programme and sit the First and Second State Examination for Jurists, which gives you access to all legal professions in Germany.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

To apply for this degree programme you need a recognised university entrance qualification, e.g. the German Abitur or an equivalent qualification.

    Career

After completing your LL.B. degree you are immediately in a position to plan, design and support IT-based processes in law firms and other businesses, law courts and administrative authorities, e.g. as a legal engineer or consultant. If provided with the respective state authorisation, you are qualified to provide independent digital legal services in a debt-collection context. Upon graduating, you can also apply throughout Germany for the one-year master’s degree programme in IT law that will open up many further career options for you – for example in the context of data protection or IT compliance. If you complete the undergraduate law programme (state examination programme) and complete the second state examination in law, the entire spectrum of the legal profession will be open to you – so you could work as a judge, public prosecutor, administrative lawyer, solicitor, notary public or a company lawyer).
