    Level 3 Farm Mechanisation

    About

    Course Overview

One of the UK's largest sectors, agriculture is moving forward and modernising at a rapid rate. Based on our specialist Lackham campus, this course enables you to study at the cutting-edge of the farming industry, making full use of industry-standard facilities and machinery, and learning the latest agri-technology techniques. Our working farms and 800-acre estate make the perfect classroom for practical learning, providing you with industry experience as a routine part of your course, and enabling you to undertake essential farm duties and practice on the latest vehicles and equipment. Equivalent to A-Levels, the course will give you the specialist technical and practical skills you need to go straight into employment or progress on to further study, supported by detailed knowledge of the wider agricultural industry.

    What will I learn?

You'll gain a thorough understanding of fundamental agricultural processes such as livestock and crop production, machinery operations and estate skills. The course is also designed to prepare you to run a successful agricultural enterprise and will equip you with crucial business and management skills.

A key part of the learning experience is to undertake challenging and engaging investigative projects, which could include ploughing ahead of the farm's maize crop, or grass and maize forage harvesting operations. You will also undertake routine farm duties, enhancing your employability, industry understanding, teamwork and confidence, and preparing you to meet the challenges of working in the ever-developing farming sector.

During the course there are opportunities to obtain additional certifications which you will be able to gain at preferential prices. These include certificates of competence such as PA units, telehandler, welding and chainsaw operation.
