    Related fields for prior qualifications

    Actuarial studies undergraduate degree from a university recognised by the Actuaries Institute or the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or other actuarial professional societies. Alternatively, a passing grade in the professional exams of either of these accreditation bodies are also considered. Quantitative degrees such as Mathematics, Statistics or Risk Management related degrees are also considered.

    English language requirements

    All Macquarie University applicants are required to provide evidence of English language proficiency. The standard of English required for entry is based on the IELTS Academic test. Other accepted evidence of English proficiency, including minimum scores on other English tests and qualifications, can be checked using the conversion tool.

    What if I don't meet the requirements?

    If you don’t meet the English requirements for your course, you may be issued an offer of study that includes an English preparation program at the Macquarie University English Language Centre (ELC). If you receive a packaged offer, you can apply for a single student visa covering both your English preparation program and your course.

    The length of your English program will depend on your current English level and the minimum English requirements for your course. Our admissions team will be able to recommend the number of weeks required when you submit your application.

    Professional recognition

    This course is recognised by the two professional bodies - Actuaries Institute and Society of Actuaries. It is possible, subject to sufficient academic performance in relevant units, for students to gain exemption from the following subjects in the Foundation Program of the AI: CM1, CM2, CS1, CS2, CB1 and CB2, as well as the following subjects in the Actuary Program: ACC and DSP. Likewise, it is possible, subject to sufficient academic performance in relevant units, for students to gain university-earned credit for the following exams : VEE (Validation by Educational Experience) Economics, VEE Accounting and Finance, VEE Mathematical Statistics, Exam FM, Exam P, Exam FAM, Exam ALTAM, Exam ASTAM and Exam SRM.
