The Master of Applied Accounting is a one year program for graduates who wish to equip themselves with essential accounting knowledge and skills, integrated with critical analysis and business research capabilities, that are fundamental to decision making in industry, government and private practice and highly valued by employers. The program is designed for graduates with prior studies in business or economics disciplines and provides them with a strong knowledge base in the core accounting areas and a choice of capstone courses. Students with prior accounting studies can also choose to study advanced accounting courses, including specialist elective courses in public sector accounting, tax and auditing. Students seeking CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand accreditation are referred to the Master of Professional Accounting or Master of Accounting. This program can be combined with the Master of Financial Management in a double masters. In line with the University's admissions policy and strategic plan, an assessment for admission may include competitively ranking applicants on the basis of specific academic achievement, English language proficiency and diversity factors. Applicants will first be ranked on a GPA ('GPA1') that is calculated using all but the last semester (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree used for admission purposes.
