    In the business world, understanding and interpreting data is an integral part of decision making. The Master of Business Analytics gives you the skills to help organisations achieve their strategic objectives through analytics-based solutions. You will learn skills that are in demand in both the private and public sectors, where a wide variety of industries are moving towards increasingly evidence-based decision practices.

    The course has been developed in consultation with industry and course partners, including IBM, Microsoft, Altis Consulting, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, PBT Group and PwC. You will get hands-on experience with a range of internationally recognised business intelligence and state-of-the-art analytics tools. The latest analytics concepts and issues are also integrated across the curriculum.

    Working alongside academics who are experts in their field, you will cover areas such as business intelligence, predictive analytics, decision modelling, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cyber security strategies and real-world applications of analytics.

    This flexible course caters for working professionals balancing study with other commitments. You can also fast-track to complete your course in as little as a year. Choose to study online or on campus and tailor your study to meet your individual needs.

    Selection is based on a holistic consideration of your academic merit, work experience, likelihood of success, availability of places, participation requirements, regulatory requirements, and individual circumstances. You will need to meet the minimum academic and English language proficiency requirements to be considered for selection, but this does not guarantee admission.

    Depending on your professional experience and previous qualifications, you may commence this course with admission credit and complete your course in 1 year full-time (or part-time equivalent).

      Academic requirements

      1 year full-time (or part-time equivalent) - 8 credit points

      To be considered for admission to this degree (with 8 credit points of admission credit applied^*) you will need to meet at least one of the following criteria:

      • completion of a bachelor degree (honours) (AQF 8) or higher in a related discipline
      • completion of a bachelor degree in a related discipline, and at least two years' of relevant work experience (or part-time equivalent)
      • completion of a graduate certificate or graduate diploma or higher in a related discipline

      1.5 years full-time (or part-time equivalent) - 12 credit points

      To be considered for admission to this degree (with 4 credit points of admission credit applied^*) you will need to meet at least one of the following criteria:

      • completion of a bachelor degree or higher in a related discipline
      • completion of a bachelor degree or higher in any discipline, and at least two years' of relevant work experience (or part-time equivalent)

      2 years full-time (or part-time equivalent) - 16 credit points

      To be considered for admission to this degree (without admission credit applied*) you will need to meet the following criteria:

      • completion of a bachelor degree or higher in any discipline

      ^Related discipline degree: A 'related discipline' award for this course is a bachelor degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, mathematics and/or statistics, or a bachelor degree in any discipline with a specialisation (major/minor) in information systems/ information technology/ mathematics/ statistics.

      ^Relevant work experience: Should typically be post-graduation and include roles focused on data-driven decision-making and analytics. This includes positions in data analytics, business intelligence, consulting, information systems, data science, operations research, or fields like financial, marketing, cybersecurity or supply chain analytics. Roles in project or product management, or business strategy with a strong emphasis on data analysis, are also relevant. Experience with analytics tools, platforms, or processes to support organisational decision-making is highly valuable.”

      To meet the English language proficiency requirements of this course, you will need to demonstrate at least one of the following:

      English Program Requirements

      All students must be able to prove that they can meet our English language requirements. Our English language requirements are divided into five bands – from Band A through to Band E. These Bands indicate the level of English required to undertake the course, with Band E representing the highest English skill level required.

      You will be able to provide evidence of your English language skills if you have:

      • completed an English language test such as IELTS, Pearson, TOEFL or Cambridge
        • Applicants who are unable to sit standard tests due to public health concerns relating to the COVID-19 pandemic can complete an online English language test such as IELTS Indicator, OET@Home, TOEFL Special Home Edition.
      • completed some types of university (tertiary) or high-school (secondary) studies
      • completed an approved English subject in IB Diploma, Australian Year 12 or other high school qualifications
      • lived and worked in an English speaking country for at least five years.

      • Certify supporting documents

        Most documents need to be certified. For example, award certificates, academic transcripts and your identity papers (passport). Documents in languages other than English will also need to be translated. Take the original document and a photocopy to an authorised person (for example, justice of the peace, public notary, member of the police force or Australian lawyer), to sign.
