    About

    The Masters of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) aims to qualify you to work as an Accredited Practising Dietitian* and Sports Dietitian in Australia.

    In this program you will:

    • Gain qualifications in a specialist accredited dietetic program, rich with hands on experiences working with real clients
    • Gain a unique focus on sports nutrition, private practice, community health, consultancy skills, and entrepreneurship
    • Increase your knowledge and experience in the sports nutrition practice specialisation, working with athletes and active individuals
    • Have the opportunity to earn additional credentials, such as physique assessment qualifications and develop your research skills
    • Get hands-on experience in UniSC’s specialised teaching kitchen
    • Develop your clinical, interpersonal and professional skills

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Completion of an undergraduate human science Bachelor degree from a recognised higher education institution, or equivalent.

    The undergraduate degree must include:

    • Nutritional biochemistry underpinned by chemistry
    • Human physiology
    • Exercise physiology
    • Human nutrition

    English language requirements

    You will also need to meet the English language requirements for this program. If you do not meet the minimum requirements, you may be able to enrol in our English Language Programs to reach the required level for most of UniSC’s programs (exceptions apply to non-standard English requirement programs).

    Special selection criteria

    As part of admission to this program you may be required to submit a personal statement and/or undertake an interview.

    Application for entry from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals is encouraged and will be prioritised as per Dietitians Australia Accreditation standard 1.4 The university implement strategies to recruit and retain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.     • Semester 2 Intake – non cognate entry only (2 year program)
    • Semester 1 Intake – cognate (reduced volume of learning) entry only (1.5 year program)
    • Students accepted into MC001 Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) with a reduced volume of learning (including those from provisional direct entry) receive 48 units credit and must complete all 8 specialised courses (144 units). Students accepted into the program with a reduced volume or learning will have demonstrated completion of the following courses or equivalents:

    NUT333
    NUT300

    • Provisional direct entry into the Masters of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) will be available a select number of high achieving students who meet the English language requirements of the Masters program. The program is restricted to high-achieving secondary school students who have completed Year 12 no more than three (3) years before admission. Applicants must not have previously attempted any tertiary study at diploma level or higher. Recommended prior study is as per the Bachelor of Nutrition. There are limited places available for this provisional entry pathway program. Students must complete SC354 in 3 years and achieve a cumulative program GPA of at least 5.0; the university may withdraw an offer if the student does not enrol in the Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) in the year following completion of the Bachelor of Nutrition program. Students cannot defer their offer of a provisional place for direct entry into the Masters of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition).
