    JCU’s Master of Engineering Management is ideal for professional engineers and other technical professionals seeking a higher qualification that will develop their project management and business management skills. Over the course of this two-year degree, you will complete subjects on project management, engineering management, sustainable economics, and strategic resource and operations management. You will also participate in work-integrated learning through an industry placement, preparing you with skills for your career.

    Developing and managing sustainable projects is critical to the successful completion and continued operation of engineering ventures. The learnings embedded in this course incorporate authentic and practical knowledge that will support you to develop a broad range of management skills that are in demand across engineering and related industries.

    You will transfer your knowledge and skills to the workplace and network with prospective employers and peers. The networking available within your placements could lead to further opportunities post-graduation. In addition to employment opportunities, having increased industry connections can valuably contribute to your role in project management.

    The Master of Engineering Management is designed in consultation with industry experts to ensure familiarity with professional practice both in Australia and overseas. You will be equipped to manage projects at new scales and levels of complexity, while satisfying the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) professional standards. This degree is also aligned with a number of Australian and international standards, including the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education, the Associate to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and the Australian Qualifications Framework.

    As managers of projects, technology, infrastructure and people, Engineering Managers need to be aware of and ready to actively oversee complex projects for social, environmental and cultural sustainability. This Engineering Management degree will equip you with the skills to meet such a standard as well as the practical experience required to deliver successful projects on time, on budget and in line with community and professional expectations.

    This course provides a foundation of Information Technology and Information System skills for entrants with limited IT experience. It also provides opportunities for experienced Information Technology and Systems professionals to enhance and apply their skills within emerging technology driven growth areas.

    You will learn how to apply Information Systems and Technologies in meeting current business needs in a real-world environment by integrating theoretical learnings with the practical application and experiences learnt through working on projects with real clients.

    You will graduate with relevant practical experiences to help you hit the ground running into a successful and exciting career in your chosen field.

    MITS also provides an optional opportunity for high achieving students to qualify to participate in a research project, offering valuable experience for your future career, or potentially being the first step on your path to a PhD.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    AQF level 8 bachelor degree in engineering or allied discipline; or an AQF level 7 bachelor degree in engineering or allied discipline, plus at least two years relevant work experience; or equivalent.

    English language requirements

    Band 2

    If your native language is not English, you must meet the minimum English language requirements for this course.

    English Program Requirements

    International students must attain an IELTS Academic with an average level of 7.5 or more, across the four components of listening, speaking, reading and writing; no score below level 7.0 in any of these components; and a score of 8.0 or more in the components of speaking and listening. Internationally schooled applicants may also be required to meet this requirement.

    English competency requirements may also be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

    • Bachelor degree or master degree from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the USA, or
    • Undergraduate degree taught in English from a South African University.
