Eligible candidates with a relevant bachelor's degree can fast-track completion to one year through recognition of prior learning.

    You'll acquire knowledge in environmental issues, waste minimisation, water quality, and team leadership. Learning occurs through a mix of core subjects, an independent project, and electives, ensuring a well-rounded professional skill set.

    The course combines a set of key subjects that contain information on the nature of environmental problems together with engineering techniques for their solution. This is supplemented by management and policy subjects to empower the engineer, or technical specialist, to lead multidisciplinary teams working in the field of environmental engineering and management.

    The course follows an integrated approach to professional practice through professional engineering subjects, subjects relating to environmental engineering management, an independent project, and a set of electives.

    The course aims to develop an awareness and understanding of the human impact on the environment with respect to waste minimisation and water quality management, and the professional skills required to work as part of an integrated team responsible for environmental planning and management.

    Admission requirements

    To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the following criteria.

    Applicants must have one of the following qualifications in Engineering or Natural and Physical Sciences:

    • Completed Australian master’s or doctoral degree, or overseas equivalent

    OR

    • Completed Australian bachelor's degree, graduate certificate or graduate diploma, or overseas equivalent, with more than 75% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded pass not included)

    Applicants who do not meet the criteria above should consider applying for C11237 Graduate Certificate in Environmental Engineering Management (for those withqualifications in Engineering or Natural and Physical Sciences); and C04275 Master of Engineering Management or C11239 Graduate Certificate in Engineering Management (for those with qualifications in any other discipline).

    The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL iBT: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.

    Visa requirement: To obtain a student visa to study in Australia, international students must enrol full time and on campus. Australian student visa regulations also require international students studying on student visas to complete the course within the standard full-time duration. Students can extend their courses only in exceptional circumstances.
