    About

    The Master of Applied Finance is for ambitious and savvy individuals who want advanced academic rigour but thrive on practical learning that is immediately applicable in the workplace – and directly relevant to future career roles. Western Sydney University is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute’s Educational Partnership Program in Australia and the Asia Pacific. The curriculum of this comprehensive, advanced degree overlaps with material in the CFA program. This program provides you with the specialist technical knowledge and critical skills necessary to operate effectively in ever-changing local and global markets. You’ll also add quantitative analysis to you skillset, giving you a competitive edge when applying for senior management positions. To prepare you for an executive career in finance, banking, property investment and corporate treasuries, core subjects of this degree include Financial Modelling, Financial Institutions & Markets, Funds Management & Portfolio Selection, Derivatives, Security Analysis & Portfolio Theory, and Corporate Finance. You can then choose four additional subjects that best reflect your interests and ambitions. You will then complete a business project or internship to gain real world experience.

    Admission

    • Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree, or higher, in a business discipline; Or
    • Successfully completed an undergraduate degree, or higher, in any discipline and have a minimum of two years full-time equivalent managerial/professional work experience; Or
    • Successfully completed an undergraduate degree, or higher, in any discipline and have a minimum eight years full-time equivalent general work experience.

    Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience must support their application with a Statement of Service for all work experience listed on the application.

    Applicants who have undertaken studies overseas may have to provide proof of proficiency in English.

    Overseas qualifications must be deemed by the Australian Education International - National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR) to be equivalent to Australian qualifications in order to be considered by UAC and Western Sydney University.

    English Program Requirements

    All international students must have a good command of written and spoken English.

    If your first language is English or if you can provide satisfactory evidence that English was the medium of instruction in your secondary or tertiary studies (secondary or tertiary studies completed within 2 years at the time of your commencement at Western Sydney University), you may be considered as meeting the requirement of proficiency in English.

    If English is not your first language or was not the medium of instruction in your secondary or tertiary studies, you are required to demonstrate your proficiency in the English language by achieving a prescribed level in an approved English examination or test before you can receive a full offer of a place.
