Master of Information Systems and Information Technology Management

You will gain a combination of technical and managerial knowledge and skills, which will provide you with a holistic approach to effectively manage information technology in organisations. You will also develop a solid grounding in the principles and practice of information technology and an in-depth knowledge of information and communication technologies and information systems. With this knowledge, you will be able to confidently manage the functional responsibility for choosing, implementing and maintaining information systems and technology within, and across, organisations.

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Information System and Information Technology Management you must have one of:

Pathway 1 - 1 year program (80CP):

• A recognised Bachelor degree (or higher) in a *related discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 using a 7.0 scale; AND a minimum 3 years full-time (or equivalent) relevant ^professional experience.

Pathway 2 - 2 year program (160CP):

• A recognised Bachelor degree (or higher) in any discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 using a 7.0 scale; OR
• A combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal, and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to the above.

*Related Discipline: Information Technology, Computer Science, Microelectronic Engineering

^Professional Experience: IT specific and IT/ Business (eg. Business Analysis)

Study option

If you do not meet the academic entry criteria, you may be able to study the Masters Qualifying Program (9354) and qualify for entry into this Masters degree.

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:

• A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0
• OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL
• OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19)
• OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
• OR a minimum overall score of 176 (no score less than 169) on C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)
• OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.

International students who successfully complete the Direct Entry Program (DEP) will satisfy the English Language requirements for this Griffith degree.

The Direct Entry Program (DEP) is not available for Domestic students.

You will be prepared for a wide range of senior employment opportunities relating to the development and management of information technology in any organisation. These positions may include systems analyst/developer, web/eCommerce developer, database designer and administrator and information resource manager. It can also lead to higher-level positions involved in formulating strategic plans and developing policy. Graduates are not limited to working in the IT industry but may work in all industries where the management of IT and implementation of information systems is essential for efficient and effective operations.
