    About

    Overview

    • Are you planning on practicing law in a rural or regional area? The Master of Laws (Legal Practice) is intentionally designed for those wishing to practice in smaller multi-practice legal firms, often operating in regional areas.
    • The diversity of the courses in UniSQ’s Legal Practice specialisation ensures your expert knowledge can be shaped and utilised in regional areas.
    • Examine advanced knowledge across popular areas of law, including family law, employment law, commercial transactions and property law, personal injuries law, mediation and estate planning. Create an expansive breadth of knowledge to ensure you have the skills to assist a range of clients and their legal needs.
    • Within the Master of Laws, you will complete two core courses focused on research skills, four elective courses from a range of areas relevant to legal practice and a choice of one free-standing elective across the degree.
    • Complete your degree in one year when studying full-time or two years part-time, study completely online and choose from three different start times throughout the year (February, May or September).

    • Completion of a Bachelor of Laws (Honours); a Juris Doctor; a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, or an international equivalent.
    • Applicants who do not hold a law degree but have an equivalent qualification approved by a legal profession admissions board are also eligible to apply for entry.
    • If you have completed the UniSQ Juris Doctor you will receive 50% specific credit towards particular components of the Master of Laws. If you have completed a Juris Doctor degree from another institute, you are able to apply for credit as per the Credit and Exemption policy.

    English language requirements

    You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 with a minimum 6.0 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

    If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study with our English language partner, the Union Institute of Language (UIL).
