    • A postgraduate diploma in a legal subject (GDL, LPC, PG Dip SQE, BVC or BPTC)
    • Have achieved a qualification as a solicitor in England and Wales (either through the LPC and Training Contract or the SQE with Qualifying Work Experience)
    • Have achieved a qualification as a qualified lawyer in a jurisdiction recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (https://www.sra.org.uk/solicitors/qlts/recognised-jurisdictions.page)

    You should complete the LLM Dissertation Proposal and include this when you submit your application.

    All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional; you can download our reference template for completion.

    All applicants should satisfy our University English language requirements.

    IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.

    This course will improve your employability prospects in a competitive legal world. You’ll develop the expertise to move into specialised areas of law such as employment law, criminal law or international law. Law firms and barristers’ chambers appreciate the LLM as specialist training and favour candidates with this added qualification. If you aspire to work in legal education, an LLM is usually the minimum qualification required.
