    QUT's School of Nursing has an established reputation as a provider of postgraduate nursing programs that recognise and respond to priorities in health care and prepare professionals for specialist and leadership positions.

    In consultation with industry partners, the new Master of Nursing is designed to meet the needs of healthcare organisations for graduates who demonstrate nursing leadership and advanced practice skills. Graduates will have the ability to demonstrate leadership, autonomy, expert judgement, and adaptability to improve healthcare outcomes and service delivery models.

    You will opt to major in one study area and will select a coursework or dissertation stream. You may also choose to complete a flexible program with no major and select electives from a wide list that includes the science of pharmacology, health statistics, dementia, and quality management in health.

    Our flexible courses are designed to make study work for you with a variety of pathways. As QUT’s Graduate Certificate in Nursing articulates into this Master of Nursing, you have the option to exit early with a nested qualification. Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Nursing and/or Master of Nursing may also be eligible to articulate into the Master of Nurse Practitioner.

    Entry requirements

    You must have either:

    • A completed recognised bachelor degree (or higher award) in nursing; or
    • A completed recognised associate degree in nursing and at least 1.00 year full-time (or equivalent) work experience as a registered nurse (or equivalent).

    Nursing registration information

    The Master of Nursing does not lead to registration as a nurse in Australia.

    Minimum English language requirements

    We accept English language proficiency scores from the following tests undertaken in a secure test centre. Tests must be taken no more than 2 years prior to the QUT course commencement.

    The Master of Nursing prepares you for leadership roles in specialist areas of health care. Graduates will demonstrate leadership of teams, autonomy, expert judgement, and the agility to improve healthcare outcomes and service delivery models.
