    About

    Overview

    The Master of Physiotherapy is designed for students who wish to excel in their practice. Our course focuses on technology, digital health, leadership, enterprise and self-awareness. Students have access to mentors industry-wide who can help them develop and reflect on their work. Graduates will have the resilience, practical, and research skills for high-level leadership and management positions within the healthcare system.

    Qualifications

    Applicants must meet BOTH of the following criteria:

    1. A completed Bachelor degree in a health science related discipline;
    2. Tertiary level studies with a minimum of 1 unit each of human anatomy AND human physiology.

    NB: health science disciplines include exercise science, exercise physiology, exercise and sports science, biomedical science, occupational therapy, nursing, osteopathy, chiropractic, paramedicine, physiotherapy. They DO NOT include health science or applied science degrees * unless anatomy and physiology prerequisites are met* or educational degrees (e.g. Bachelor of Physical Education).

    Course prerequisites

    Applicants are required to have completed their degree in the last 10 years or have undertaken subsequent Postgraduate studies and obtained a minimum 70% GPA across their studies.

    Note

    The university may determine selection criteria and restrictions in respect of courses to apply in addition to these entry requirements.

    Applicants must meet both of the following criteria:

    Demonstrate English proficiency with one of the following:

    • IELTS (Academic Module): Overall 7.0 with a minimum band score of 7.0 in each of the three sections listening, reading and speaking and a minimum band score of 6.5 in one section: writing
    • or equivalent measures available at English language requirements.
    Need to undertake an English assessment for entry?

    A prerequisite for many courses, the Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) can now be done at our Hawthorn campus.

    How to Apply

    To apply online, you will need these supporting documents

    • Certified copies of your previous academic results.
    • Certified English language proficiency test results (IELTS, PTE or TOEFL).
    • Letters from your school or employer.
    • If you do not meet the Year 12 design prerequisite a portfolio will need to be submitted for assessment (except for the Swinburne Foundation Year (Design)).
    • A Statement of Activity if there is a gap in study (for example, if you graduated secondary education in 2017 and are applying for one of our courses in 2019, we will require a written statement of what you have been doing in 2018).

    If you are applying for credit, you must include course outlines and translated (English) copies (if required) from your previous or current course.
