    This course is designed for students with mathematical ability and a first degree in a quantitative subject. It offers you modules at the final-year undergraduate level to prepare you for postgraduate study if you wish to progress further.

You will also learn the importance of rigorous mathematical arguments and gain understanding of key mathematical concepts that are the basis of postgraduate study in mathematics.

    This course has an evening timetable with evening teaching complemented by online video content and lecture notes with practice problems and solutions provided. Live sessions are also recorded so you can re-watch them later.

    You can study the Graduate Diploma either full- or part-time; the Graduate Certificate is available to study part-time only.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    A second-class honours degree (2:2 or above) in a quantitative discipline, such as science or economics, or a joint degree containing some mathematics.

    In exceptional circumstances, candidates without a first degree in a quantitative discipline may be admitted, provided they have equivalent-level qualifications or professional experience that convinces the admissions team that the course is suitable for them.

    English Program Requirements

    If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.

    If you don't meet the minimum IELTS requirement, we offer pre-sessional English courses and foundation programmes to help you improve your English language skills and get your place at Birkbeck.
