    History The Rutgers University'Camden History major provides perspective on the present and strengthens students’ ability to read critically, think analytically, and write clearly. The mastery of these skills is essential for success in teaching, business, graduate study (including the study of law), and life as an informed citizen.Coursework is designed for students to acquire a new understanding of the historical experiences of peoples across the globe and to learn to think like historians. Students will gain historical perspective on the contemporary world while improving their ability to formulate questions and solve problems,and develop their oral and written communication skills. The History education that Rutgers'Camden provides intends prepare students to participate productively as members of a democratic society, being well-equipped to evaluate complex public affairs and contribute their own ideas to public discourse in a clear and concise manner.

    Students currently studying in the United States are not eligible for the RU-PATH program. If a student is currently studying in a U.S. high school, he/she should for regular admission to a Rutgers degree program.

    English Program Requirements

    Regardless of U.S. residency status, an English proficiency examination is required of all students whose secondary schooling has been outside the U.S. in a country where English is not the principal language. Score reports must be from tests taken within the past two years and submitted directly to us from the testing service.

    Please note: Students who have earned a grade of B or better in a college-level English Composition course at an accredited U.S. college (not a foreign affiliate) are exempt from the English language proficiency requirement. English courses that are designated ESL, non-native, or which require a special support component, or any courses taken outside the US, are not acceptable. Please also note that Rutgers does not accept correspondence or online courses for the language proficiency requirement.
