    About

    Is this degree for you?

Interested in a career in nursing as a registered nurse? The Nursing Advanced Entry Program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) condenses the required nursing curriculum and practicum work into 5 semesters.

 Experiential learning opportunities: Placement mandatory

Eligible candidates must have completed all of the prerequisites for entry into the program, as well as approximately 2 years of academic study equivalent to 20 TMU credits (approximately 20 semestered courses or 10 full-year courses) at an accredited university (or equivalent).

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Academic requirements

The Nursing Advanced Entry Program may be for you if:

    • You’ve completed at least 20 credits (equivalent to 2 years of full-time study) in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited post-secondary institution.
    • You’ve completed all of the prerequisite courses (listed below).

    To be considered for admission:

    • You must have completed the required undergraduate credits within 5 years of the start of the program. Graduation isn't required (if you voluntarily withdrew after the second or third year, you will be considered).
    • Admission requirements must be completed by June 30 of the admission year. If you haven't completed the required courses at the time of application, proof of enrolment must be submitted by February 1.
    • A minimum overall average of B (75% or 3.0 on a 4.0 GPA scale) in your top 20 semestered courses or 10 full-year courses is required. The courses used to calculate your average will be selected from any year and program of study. Repeated courses will be considered and the grade in your most recent attempt will be included in the average calculation. Your entire post-secondary record will be considered when your application is reviewed.
    • In addition to completing at least 20 undergraduate degree credits, you must complete the prerequisite courses (listed below) at the university level. Note the number of courses required in each subject area. You must have completed these prerequisite courses within the last 5 years (from your start in the Advanced Entry Nursing program).
    • A minimum grade of C- (60%) in all prerequisite courses is required for consideration, as per the grade recorded on the transcript.
    • Course results of credit/no credit (CR/NCR) or pass/fail (P/F) can’t be used to meet average or prerequisite subject requirements.
    • TMU’s mature student guidelines don’t apply.
    • Due to competition, grades/averages above the minimums may be required.
    • You aren't required to submit secondary school transcripts.

Please note that the following applicants won't be considered for this program:

    • Applicants with any previous nursing studies (including domestic and international education). This means applicants who have enrolled in, or completed, a nursing program such as BScN, RN diploma or PN.
    • Applicants who require a study permit to study in Canada.
