    About

Overview Inclusive of Cooperating and Affiliate members, more than 70 Graduate Faculty teach and advise graduate students in the Oceanography field of study. The collective research expertise and programs of these faculty provide a broad diversity of potential projects and employment opportunities for students. Department faculty are loosely organized into three Divisions — Physical Oceanography, Marine Geology and Geochemistry (MGGD), and Biological Oceanography. I want to find another Master Course The Physical Oceanography Division in the Department of Oceanography at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa includes faculty, graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and technicians involved in research and educational activities ranging from oceanic turbulence to the general circulation of the oceans and its effects on climate. The Division of Biological Oceanography offers a broadrange of exciting research opportunities in diverse marine habitats and ecosystems around the globe, from tropical to polar oceans and from the air-sea interface to the deep-ocean floor. Upper water-column programs include studies of primary productivity and bio-optics, color satellite imagery, plant pigments as tracers of biogeochemical processes, microbial food-web interactions, phytoplankton and zooplankton community structure, and the roles of biota in vertical transport andremineralization of particulate and dissolved organic matter. Mid-water column studies focus on the community ecology and dynamics ofmeso-pelagic shrimp, squid and small fishes unique to oceanic island systems. The Marine Geology and Geochemistry Division (MGGD) is one of three divisions within the Department of Oceanography at the University of Hawai‘i. Graduate studies within MGGD are offered through the Department of Oceanography. Our undergraduate degree program in Global Environmental Science is also hosted with the Department of Oceanography. The MGGD faculties are active participants in both of these degree programs.Multicultural Global ExperienceCommitted to being the leading indigenous serving university in the country, University of Hawaii at Manoa proudly delivers a unique multicultural global experience in a Hawaiian place of learning, with a long history of adherence to the principles of sustainability and the essence of aloha—truly like nowhere else on earth.

    Other Requirements

    • 1 : To be eligible, an applicant must hold or expect to hold prior to matriculation a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, or an equivalent degree from a recognized non-U.S. institution of higher education. At minimum, the applicant needs to demonstrate above average academic performance (B average, usually a 3.0 on a 1.0-4.0 scale) for undergraduate course work and for any post-baccalaureate or graduate course work. Because the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of spaces available, admission is competitive.  Meeting minimum admissions standards does not guarantee admission.
