    About

    The Master’s degree course in Operation and Management of Maritime Systems consolidates the knowledge and skills needed for managing various kinds of maritime systems. The course concentrates on the safe and efficient running of these systems, the legal and commercial/logistic general conditions and relationships, as well as soft skills. The degree course has the following compulsory modules: Safety, Security and Ecology in Maritime Systems Technical Aspects and Simulation of Maritime Systems Human Resources / Organisational Management Maritime Business Communication Maritime Management / Port Operations Management and Business Simulation The compulsory elective modules are as follows: Maritime Law Integrated Manoeuvring/Propulsion and Navigation Systems Operation, Monitoring & Maintenance of Technical Systems Operational and Strategic Management in Shipbuilding The third semester is dedicated to the writing of the Master’s thesis. The thesis is presented at a colloquium that can be attended by all members of the university.

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants must have gained a first professional qualification (Bachelor’s, "Diplom" or similar) from a German university or university abroad in a course related to business or engineering sciences. The applicant must have earned at least 210 credits in this programme. If applicants are unable to prove the required 210 credits, it is possible for them to gain a maximum of 30 credits by independently attending courses at UAS Wismar prior to the start of studies or during their studies. The modules that must be elected will be decided by the Examination Board upon request. The degree certificate that must be presented as proof of the qualification must have an overall mark of at least 2.5. If this overall mark was not achieved, the final exam must have been passed with a mark of 2.0 or better. Admission will be denied if the overall mark is 3.0 or worse. Decisions regarding individual exceptions shall be made by the Examination Board.
