    About

Overview Despite great strides in science and technology, the modern world continues to be plagued by war and social conflicts. A growing number of institutions of higher education have come to the conclusion that just as we have service academies to educate young people in the ways of war, we need Peace Studies programs to train students in the techniques necessary for peaceful solutions to world problems. Chapman is proud to be at the forefront of this movement, and is one of the few universities to offer a full scale peace studies major. The BA in Peace Studies offered by Chapman University is excellent preparation for those seeking to pursue careers in international affairs, whether through the Foreign Service, Peace Corps, the United Nations, or international Non-Governmental Organizations. Areas of involvement might include human rights, social and economic development, disarmament, conflict analysis, and general peacemaking. In March 2019, Chapman University's Model United Nations delegation travled to New York City for the annual one-week NMUN Conference. Chapman represented the country of Jordan through the one-week convention. How Might a Student Use a Degree in Peace Studies?Employment opportunities include public service with the government or multi-national institutions such as the United Nations. Specialization in conflict resolution can lead to opportunities in labor management relations or community relations. A wide variety of peace and social action organizations seek persons who are both committed to service and academically grounded in peace and social justice issues. Finally, many churches and religious organizations employ peacemakers. I want to find another Bachelor Course
