    Overview Petroleum engineering is primarily concerned with the economic extraction of oil, gas, and other energy resources from the earth. This is accomplished through the design, drilling, and operation of wells and well systems, and the integrated management of the underground reservoirs in which the resources are found.According to US News and World Report, the petroleum engineering department at Texas A&M University is the 1st undergraduate and the 2nd graduate petroleum engineering program in the United States. The department at College Station currently enrolls more than 720 undergraduate students and more than 380 graduate students. To date, Texas A&M University has awarded more than 4680 BSc (since 1931), 1195 MSc (since 1950) and 286 PhD degrees (since 1950) in petroleum engineering. Texas A&M University branch campus in Qatar, since its establishment in 2003, has offered petroleum engineering degrees at BSc level.The program currently has 13 faculty members and is equipped with state-of-the-art lab and computing facilities.Program MissionThe mission of the Petroleum Engineering Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar is to:Create, preserve, integrate, transfer, and apply petroleum engineering knowledge;Produce competent engineers and to enhance the capabilities of current practitioners.Program Educational ObjectivesThe educational objectives of the Petroleum Engineering Program are to produce graduates who will be, within a few years of graduation:Effective engineers that continue to develop personally and professionally into prospective leaders; andSuccessful in demonstrating their obligations to the profession and the society.
