    Pharmacy (6-year Pharm.D.) Pharmacy is a health care profession concerned with the management of drug therapy in patients, the compounding and dispensing of medications, and the generation and transmission of knowledge the proper selection and use of drugs and their effects on humans and animals. Our six-year program focuses on patient-centered care and includes opportunities to engage in research with renowned scientists in some of the world’s most advanced university laboratories. As a Rutgers pharmacy student, you will: Take courses in toxicology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, pharmacy practice and administration, and chemical biology. Enjoy close mentorship from a faculty of top scientists and clinical practitioners, and a strong clinical experience program. Study in close proximity to pharmaceutical industry headquarters, in the heart of the eastern research corridor and within one hour of New York City and Philadelphia. Develop leadership skills through membership in our school's student government, fraternal, honorary, service, and professional organizations. Be prepared for exciting careers in community and institutional pharmacy, hospital and nursing home pharmacy, managed care, the biopharmaceutical industry, government agencies, academia, independent research institutes, and many others.

    Entry Requirements

    • Unofficial copy of high school/secondary school transcript
    • Official TOEFL or IELTS scores (TOEFL iBT 65-78; IELTS 6.0-6.5)
    • One letter of recommendation from a teacher or college counselor
    • Personal Essay

    Students currently studying in the United States are not eligible for the RU-PATH program. If a student is currently studying in a U.S. high school, he/she should for regular admission to a Rutgers degree program.

    English Program Requirements

    Regardless of U.S. residency status, an English proficiency examination is required of all students whose secondary schooling has been outside the U.S. in a country where English is not the principal language. Score reports must be from tests taken within the past two years and submitted directly to us from the testing service.

    Please note: Students who have earned a grade of B or better in a college-level English Composition course at an accredited U.S. college (not a foreign affiliate) are exempt from the English language proficiency requirement. English courses that are designated ESL, non-native, or which require a special support component, or any courses taken outside the US, are not acceptable. Please also note that Rutgers does not accept correspondence or online courses for the language proficiency requirement.
