    Overview

    Pharmacists are essential members of the healthcare team, ensuring the safe, effective, and ethical use of medications. As a pharmacist, you’ll advise patients and the public on how to use medicines safely, monitor for side effects, and support the management of both acute and long-term health conditions.

    Accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), our course offers the professional, clinical, and practical skills you need to succeed as a pharmacist. With hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art facilities, including clinical simulation suites and a hospital ward, you'll be fully prepared for your Foundation Training Year and a career as a registered pharmacist and independent prescriber.

    Placements are a mandatory part of the course, giving you valuable hands-on experience in diverse pharmacy settings. You'll apply your knowledge in real-world situations under the guidance of experienced professionals.

    including Chemistry or Biology at grade B and at least one of the following at grade B or above: Chemistry, Biology, Maths, Physics or Psychology (General Studies is not accepted)

    BTEC Extended Diploma:

    DM in a BTEC National Diploma in Applied Science plus an A Level in Chemistry at grade B or above. We also accept BTEC Extended Diploma in combination with an A Level in Chemistry.

    Access to HE:

    Pass Access to Science HE Diploma overall with 120 UCAS tariff, with 15 level three chemistry credits at distinction, and 15 credits at merit in other science subjects (Biology, Maths, Physics, Psychology).

    English GCSE grade C/4 required as a separate qualification; equivalency not accepted within the Access qualification.

    Please note we do not accept credits from the project module of the Access to HE towards the total number of required Chemistry credits.

    International Baccalaureate (IB):

    30+

    with six higher level points in Chemistry and another science subject (Biology, Physics, Psychology or Maths)

    GCSEs:

    5 x GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including English and Maths

    English language requirements

    If English is not your first language an IELTS score of 6.5 overall is essential.

    English language tuition, delivered by our British Council-accredited Centre for English Language Learning, is available both before and throughout the course if you need it.

    As part of your application process, you will be required to submit an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application before starting the course.

    Additional information

    Availability: This course has a limited number of places so that we can ensure a good quality placement experience. In exceptional circumstances this may result in the course becoming full before you have completed the admissions process. In this situation we will offer you the opportunity to be considered for a place on an alternative course.

    You must meet and fulfil all non-academic requirements before 17 July 2026 to ensure your offer remains valid. Not meeting this deadline risks your offer being withdrawn at a later stage of the process.

    Mature applicants need academic attainment normally no more than five years of joining the course.

    Please note that we do not normally accept applicants who have previously enrolled on a Pharmacy MPharm degree.
