The PhD programme in Finance at GSEFM is designed to ensure that students acquire a thorough knowledge of the theory of finance, of econometric and computational methods as well as the structure of modern financial markets before beginning their own research under faculty supervision. The programme's courses range from core courses in financial economics, econometrics, and mathematical methods to field courses in two to three fields chosen by the students. These courses bring them to the research frontier in each field (see the graphical illustration of the programme structure). That comprehensive structure allows our faculty and students to reach the overarching objective of the PhD and Quantitative Master of Science (MSQ) in Finance programmes: to educate outstanding financial economists capable of taking leading positions in academia or serving as experts in international institutions, government, or the private sector.
