    Overview As a student on the Philosophy program at the Seattle University, you are invited into a community of inquirers to reflect on fundamental questions of human existence through engaging with Philosophy’s diverse traditions and major thinkers. Philosophy students learn to think critically about the world, to call into question biases and unwarranted assumptions, and to pursue an “examined life.”OutcomesStudents will be capable of reading both primary and secondary sources in philosophyand of analyzing their argumentation.Students will be capable of developing philosophical arguments of their own, includingthe coherent support of conclusions with premises and the ability to formulate and replyto reasoned objections.Philosophy majors will demonstrate a broad familiarity with the history of philosophy and with philosophy's main fields and schools of thought.Philosophy majors will be well qualified for graduate study by completing term papers that demonstrate original exegesis and interpretation of primary sources within existing philosophical debates.
