    Overview As a major in the Philosophy program of Siena College, you will explore contemporary philosophical questions through the lens of the history of philosophy. You'll gain an understanding of the central figures and texts in the history of philosophy, the four traditional theories of ethics together with an understanding of the nature of justice, and the formal techniques used to evaluate arguments. And you'll learn to carefully read, comprehend and compress written material, to compare and contrast a range of positions on a given topic, to defend a specific position on a topic and to write clearly and in an organized fashion—all highly valued skills. An 18-credit minor is also offered.Your future successSiena's philosophy program provides excellent preparation for careers in law, religion, business, advertising, writing, education, social work and more as well as professional and graduate school. Careers of our philosophy alumni include: Executive Deputy Secretary of State, Attorney, Sr. Lead Quality Assurance Specialist, Director of Policy and Research , Director of Capital Project Management, Senior Planner & Project Manager, Director of Staffing and Director of Government Affairs.
