This course prepares students for a career in the photographic industry. Apart from studying traditional black and white film development and processing in a darkroom, students also learn about digital photography and image manipulation using sophisticated computer software. The first year of study concentrates on the development of photographic techniques and studio practice. Subjects covered include studio lighting, photographic techniques and studio practice. In the second year, students learn about visual language and how to interpret photographic images. There are practitioner visits, live projects and exhibition set-ups, and students can display their work in a final exhibition staged in Swindon.
