    About

Here, you don't just read about the sciences, you experience them in the field. UW-Superior takes advantage of the incredible Twin Ports location to give hands-on ability to students in our plant sciences focus program. This program allows them on work with specimens in natural and greenhouse environments, like the newly built Stanley Oexemann Greenhouse facility. Faculty in this department have the goal of working directly with students to do in-field research in situations like assessing rare regional plants or completing survey methodology at one of the two large outdoor ecological laboratories, Gordon MacQuarrie Wetlands and Dutchman's Creek. These outdoor laboratories are used for both classroom and research purposes. The plant sciences program emphasizes these opportunities for student-based research as well as experience outside of the university by having a wide variety of internship opportunities available for students. By working with community partners, students gain the real-world knowledge they need to further their careers after graduating or to prepare for their graduate studies.
