    About

Pre-Dentistry If you are considering dental school you will find that Rutgers University-New Brunswick provides top-notch academics, a wide array of research opportunities, and hands-on experiences that distinguish our students. We also offer specialized pre-dental advising through our Health Professions Office. There is no specific pre-dental major at Rutgers. Students interested in attending dental school can major in anything they wish to, from biology to religion, as long as they complete core courses that include biology, chemistry and physics set by the American Dental Association for entrance to their member dental schools. In fact, applicants who also excel in non-science related courses make compelling and competitive dental school candidates. For students interested in developing a strong science background, we offer majors in: Biological Sciences Cell Biology and Neuroscience Exercise Science Genetics Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Chemistry Biomedical Engineering And more!! Rutgers University-New Brunswick offers a joint B.A./D.M.D. with Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in which the courses taken in dental school will complete the major in Biological Sciences or Cell Biology and Neuroscience, in addition to the dental degree requirements. Note: Applicants with an Associate’s Degree, regardless of whether it was earned as a dual degree in high school or as a traditional degree after high school, are ineligible to apply for the BA/DMD program.
