Psychology is the scientific study of human behaviour and mental processes. As a student of psychology, you will gain invaluable insights into the human condition and explore the phenomena of language, learning, development, personality, and memory. Psychology provides you with not only a wide breadth of knowledge, but also depth, developing and refining skills such as research and analytical assessments, how to communicate with all types of individuals, and how to create practical applications that can enhance the overall human experience.

    Entry Requirements

The 4-Yr BA in Psychology (Applied Emphasis) includes at least one full year field placement (8 hours per week, September to April). The practicum gives students an opportunity to gain experience by working at a community agency.

In the practicum students learn how to apply psychological knowledge as they work directly with people in settings such as recreation programs for those with major mental illness, programs for homeless youth, preschool intervention programs and corrections programs.

This degree helps students gain the skills to be “market ready” for work in the human services field and also to be well prepared for graduate school.

Graduates with this BA have found jobs such as addictions educator, youth worker and preschool behavioural specialist, among other occupations.

Alumni who have continued their studies at the Masters or PhD level have found work in positions such as psychologist, family therapist, occupational therapist, instructor and researcher.
