    About

Real estate development is a multidisciplinary activity that synthesizes the physical and design components of the development of land and buildings with financial, marketing, planning and policy aspects. The Master of Real Estate Development at Georgia Tech is a collaborative academic program offering a technical, design-based degree that also explores the business, planning, and policy components of responsible real estate development to provide students the knowledge demanded for the sustainable utilization of the land. The program leverages courses and faculty from three Schools in the College of Design, the School of Architecture, the School of Building Construction and the School of City and Regional Planning, while pursuing broader, future collaboration with College of Business, the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the School of Public Policy.

The Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) is offered to professionals to further existing real estate careers, professionals looking to change career direction, and full-time students with undergraduate degrees in real estate, construction, architecture, landscape architecture, planning, or engineering.

The MRED is a 30-credit hour program made available to full-time students and working professionals, with the opportunity for full-time students to complete the degree in 12 to 18 months. Instruction includes regular classroom courses, studio-based real estate development courses, field studies in real estate development, and case studies involving real estate development projects.

The School of Building Construction reviews applications on a rolling basis between early and late deadlines; however, it is encouraged that full applications be completed by the early deadline, especially if the applicant is interested in being considered for limited GTA/GRA funding opportunities.

    • Fall Admission: Early Deadline on January 15, Late Deadline for International applicants on April 1st, Late Deadline for U.S. Applicants on May 1st
    • Spring Admission: Early Deadline on July 15, Late Deadline for International applicants on September 1st, Late Deadline for U.S. Applicants on October 1st.

    How to Apply

    Step 1: Complete Online Application

All programs use the same online graduate application, and you may apply to multiple programs across the three campuses (Atlanta, Europe, Shenzhen). You do not have to finish the application in one sitting. You can save your work and log back in later to complete it.

    Step 2: Submit Application Materials

Application materials can be added after you have submitted your application. Refer to your intended graduate program of study webpage to review program-specific application materials.

You can upload unofficial copies of your transcripts for the application, but you must provide official copies of your transcript(s) for your application to be verified (see step nine in After You Apply for more on verification).

The Office of Graduate Education highly recommends that you submit your online application as soon as you complete all sections even if application materials, such as letters of recommendation and test scores, have not yet been received or submitted. These materials will be matched to your application record as we receive them.

    Step 3: Verify Lawful Presence

In accordance with the University System of Georgia policy, if you are admitted to Georgia Tech and residing in the United States, you must verify your lawful presence prior to registering for classes.

If you do not live in the United States and are taking online courses with Georgia Tech, you are not required to complete lawful presence.

Step 4: Pay the Application Fee

To submit your application for admission to Georgia Tech, a separate, non-refundable, and non-transferable application fee is required for each application. The fee for international applicants is $85.

Application Fee Waivers: Georgia Tech provides application fee waivers to advance diversity, recognize outstanding undergraduate achievement, and engage prospective students in recruitment events where Georgia Tech is affiliated. Please contact the graduate program directly for more information or to request a fee waiver.
