    About

Cultivate communities with a minor in property management.

Successful property managers serve their communities with strong business acumen and the ability to maximize return on investment. The Business Minor in Real Estate Property Management provides non-business majors the foundational business and real estate knowledge needed to forge a career in this growing field.

Graduates of this program can expect to successfully perform entry-level roles and accelerate quickly in the world of multi-family or commercial property management, ultimately managing multi-million dollar assets. Coursework dives into core business skills such as marketing, leasing, finance, and building maintenance, paired with people management skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, human resource management, community building, and customer service. With a 10% increase in population and 5 million more apartment homes needed by 2030 (source: National Apartment Association), the need for college-educated, strategic property managers continues to grow.

Business Minor in Real Estate Property Management: Why

    • Creates a fast track to competitive industry designations, including Certified Property Management (CPM) and Residential Property Manager (RPM).
    • Provides experience with the systems that comprise commercial property management, including accounting, people management, legal, fair housing, and various software/smart building technologies.
    • Expands learning outside the classroom with program sponsored opportunities to work part-time at a property site or complete an internship.
    • Allows bilingual PSU students to leverage their language skills coupled with this degree when seeking employment, as many multifamily properties have non-English speaking tenants.
