    About

    This program is a non-award program offered through the Griffith Graduate Research School in consultation with Griffith International - Study Abroad. The program provides an additional option for International Higher Degree Research students to undertake part of their research project at Griffith University.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    A Research Study Abroad applicant will already be enrolled in a Higher Degree Research (HDR) program in their home (or another) country and, therefore, be deemed to have met the admission requirements to study in the same level program through Research Study Abroad.

    English Program Requirements

    International applicants must meet prescribed minimum standards in English language proficiency. For Research Study Abroad applicants, the proposed principal supervisor may recommend to the Group Dean that the English language requirements be waived.

    The prescribed minimum proficiency standards in the English language are as follows:

    • A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with no sub-score less than 6.0
    • OR a minimum score of 580 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) including a score of no less than 5.0 on the Test of Written English (TWE)
    • OR a score of 237 on the computerised Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) including an Essay Rating score of 5.0.

    The test score should not be more than two years old at the time of application. These represent minimum scores and some academic elements may require higher levels of English language proficiency.

    The Direct Entry Program (DEP) pathway is not accepted for this program.

    3. Check if you are eligible for credit

     

    If you have existing formal qualifications or relevant work experience, you may be eligible to receive credit which will reduce the duration of your study.

     

    To apply, provide details of your previous qualification or work experience in the ‘credit for previous study’ section when you submit your application. You may be required to supply detailed course outlines of your previous qualification(s) in English.

     

    4. Prepare supporting documentation

     

    Prepare supporting documentation including:

     

    • a certified* copy of your academic results (translated into English if applicable)

    • a certified* copy of your English test results (if available) and

    • if you are applying for a music or visual arts degree you may need to submit a portfolio of work, or audition (see individual program for details)

    Sponsored students

     

    Sponsored students must also supply documents confirming:

       

    *To certify your documents, a Justice of the Peace or other public notary—lawyer, policeman, solicitor, embassy official—must see your original documents, and sign and stamp the copies for you.

    We recommend you apply for undergraduate and postgraduate programs by:

     

    • 31 January (to start Trimester 1)

    • 3 June (to start Trimester 2)

    • 30 September (to start Trimester 3).
