    Bachelor of Science in Sociology 

    The Bachelor of Science in Sociology degree at Kennesaw State University is available entirely online or as a face-to-face class option.

    The sociology degree will prepare you to understand and manage diversity, modernization and social change from local to global. The program's core competencies prepare you to enter careers requiring technological ability, communication, data gathering, analysis, community awareness and involvement, problem-solving, and critical thinking. This degree will also provide you with an understanding of the structure and functioning of groups and organizations, greater awareness of the environment, critical self-reflection, and interpersonal and intercultural skills.

    A degree in sociology is good preparation for graduate study in various related disciplines, including sociology, Public Health, Law, Business, Social Work, and Psychology.

    Included with the sociology degree curriculum are four (4) concentrations:

    • Culture and Social Change
    • Criminology
    • Medical Sociology
    • General Sociology

    With a B.S. in Sociology you'll be prepared to understand and deal with diversity, modernization, and social change ranging from the local to global scale. You can choose from four critical concentrations: Criminology, Culture and Social Change, Medical or General Sociology.

    GPA Requirement 

    Graduation from high school with GPA of 2.5 with qualifying SAT/ACT test scores

    (If educated outside of the United States, the required official evaluation
    must indicate GPA)

    First-Year Student Announcement:

    First-year students applying to Kennesaw State University for the Summer, and Fall 2023 semesters may be admitted without an ACT or SAT score if they have a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

    * Students who have a GPA of less than 3.2 should submit official ACT or SAT scores along with their high school transcript to be considered for admission. 

    *For students who were educated outside the United States, the GPA must be reflected on the official evaluation (see requirements below). Kennesaw State will review the official evaluation.

    **Being exempt from SAT/ACT does not guarantee that students are also exempt from the English proficiency requirement if they are citizens of non-English speaking countries (see the Validation of English Proficiency section below).

    Note: Test scores are still required for some scholarships (e.g. Zell Miller) and programs (e.g. Architecture).
