    Medicine The Newark College of Arts and Sciences' 7-Year (BA/MD) joint degree program is designed for high school seniors interested in pursuing a medical degree upon completion of their bachelor's degree. The program offers guaranteed admission to medical school provided you maintain certain minimum progress requirements. The BA/MD program is offered jointly between the Newark College of Arts and Sciences and New Jersey Medical School at Rutgers University. For students interested in developing a comprehensive bio medical science background. Academic options in the BA/MD program:Students often major in Biology, Chemistry, Economics, English, History, or Psychology, but may select from a wide variety of options in this program. Minimum Qualifications for Newark's 7-Year (BA/MD): Achieve a minimum 1400 on the SAT-I (Critical Reading and Math combined) in one test administration. Note: Only test scores through October will be considered for the BA/MD program. -If you plan to take the SAT after October, you should still have your scores sent to Rutgers for scholarship consideration; however, scores from tests later than October will not be factored into the BA/MD review process. Achieve an ACT composite score of 32 and above will be accepted in lieu of SAT scores. If you choose to submit the ACT instead of the SAT, you must have completed the optional Writing Section of the ACT test. ACT scores submitted without a Writing Score will not be considered. NOTE: Only test scores through October will be considered for the BA/MD program. If you plan to take the ACT after October, you should still have your scores sent to Rutgers for scholarship consideration; however, scores from tests later than October will not be factored into the BA/MD review process. If you have taken both the SAT and the ACT, please submit all sets of scores.     Students currently studying in the United States are not eligible for the RU-PATH program. If a student is currently studying in a U.S. high school, he/she should for regular admission to a Rutgers degree program.

    English Program Requirements

    Regardless of U.S. residency status, an English proficiency examination is required of all students whose secondary schooling has been outside the U.S. in a country where English is not the principal language. Score reports must be from tests taken within the past two years and submitted directly to us from the testing service.

    Please note: Students who have earned a grade of B or better in a college-level English Composition course at an accredited U.S. college (not a foreign affiliate) are exempt from the English language proficiency requirement. English courses that are designated ESL, non-native, or which require a special support component, or any courses taken outside the US, are not acceptable. Please also note that Rutgers does not accept correspondence or online courses for the language proficiency requirement.
